Description:
Only 50 Ferrari 250 LWB California Spiders were built between 1957 and 1960. Just 9 aluminum alloy-bodied 250 GT LWB California Spiders were built, which included covered headlights, disc brakes and a 275 HP engine designed for competition, as presented in this unique and rare 1959 250 GT LWB example. The Ferrari 2,953 cc SOHC 60° Colombo V12 engine (#1809) with 3 x 36mm Weber carburetors and air box was rebuilt by Roelofs Ferrari Classiche experts. Its original restored Ferrari Veglia instrumentation includes a 300-kilometer per hour speedometer and an 8,000 rpm tachometer, as well as refurbished oil pressure, oil temperature, water temperature, fuel level, and amperage with new senders. The leather seats, door panels, transmission tunnel, and console are new. Matching carpets line the footwells, and additional equipment includes Ferrari polished shift knob, dash-mounted rearview mirror, console ashtray, and wood-rimmed steering wheel with a Ferrari prancing-horse horn button. The engine features single-overhead camshafts and twin distributors. Electronic ignition was also added to deliver consistent air/fuel mixtures and spark plug ignition to improve cold starting and smoother engine operation. The electronic ignition has been concealed to retain a period-correct look, and an alternator is utilized in place of a factory generator. Four-wheel disc brakes and telescopic rear shocks are installed for improved safety and stability. It's equipped with its original 250 GT four-speed manual transmission and differential with 4.56:1 gears. The California body was handcrafted out of aluminum alloy. Only 37 Ferrari 250 GT California Spiders were produced with covered headlights. Hagerty's Price Guide indicates Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider values of $17,533,333 for concours condition car, $16,100,000 for a car in excellent condition, $14,933,333 for a car in good condition, and $13,700,000 for a car in fair condition. This upgraded 1959 Ferrari 250GT LWB # 1809 California Spider aluminum alloy rebody has marked improvement in performance, drivability, and maintenance than an “as factory delivered” 1959 Ferrari 250 GT California Spider– a better overall driving and ownership experience with substantially lower investment risk, at less than 10% of the value!
